THE FOOL'S MOTLEY
A Publishing House with No Intention of Behaving
Once upon a time, a Fool had an idea.
Unfortunately, she wrote it down.
Then she had another.
And another.
Before long, there were books everywhere, characters demanding attention, stories waiting to be told, and a teacup sitting dangerously close to a manuscript.
So she opened a publishing house.
The Fool's Motley.
An independent little home for books, diaries, stories, plays, workbooks, illustrations and other literary misadventures.
Some explore Tao and Zen. Some wander through the extraordinary theatre of the human mind. Some are for children. Others are for grown-ups who haven't entirely given up being children.
I write because I love writing.
I publish because I love sharing.
There are no grand ambitions to conquer the literary world.
The literary world may continue with its present arrangements.
I rather like the idea of a book wandering into somebody else's life and making itself at home.
Perhaps it will make someone laugh on a train.
Perhaps it will start an argument over breakfast.
Perhaps it will be put down halfway through because the reader has suddenly noticed a bird outside the window.
All perfectly respectable outcomes.
